Connect and index data

Sources are governed connections to data systems. Indexing discovers their objects and fields so Answerplane can plan requests safely.

Before connecting

Prepare a read-only credential, network path, source owner, expected schemas or collections, and any tenant-scoping rule. Do not reuse an application administrator credential.

Connect the source

In Sources, select the matching connector and enter the required host, project, file, bucket, or API settings. Names should identify purpose and environment, for example commerce-production-readonly.

Test the connection, save it, then run indexing. Authentication success does not guarantee every object is readable, so review the indexing result.

Curate discovered objects

Open Catalog and enable only useful objects. Add descriptions for ambiguous fields, classify sensitive data, confirm relationships, and exclude technical columns from user-facing results when appropriate.

Re-index after schema changes. Review changes before enabling new objects in production.

Connection readiness

A source is ready when:

• health checks pass
• indexing completes without unexpected omissions
• enabled objects match the approved scope
• representative questions return correct plans
• tenant scoping has been tested where required
